Permanent Jewelry FAQ
What is Permanent Jewelry?​

Imagine the most perfectly fit piece of jewelry, without a clasp. That is permanent jewelry.

How does it work?​

We will consult with you to design a piece that is perfect for you. We will cut the chains to size, do any design welding then we use a specialized welder to close the piece in place on your wrist, ankle or around your neck. The welder produces only the tiniest spark but closes the link on your new piece giving you a seamless, claspless look.

Does it hurt? ​Is it attached to my skin? Is it safe?

It does not hurt at all! We use a painless micro-welder. With just a quick flash, your jewelry is expertly fused for a permanent finish. You’ll barely even know it’s happening! It is not attached to your skin. The ends of the chain are simply welded together. Safety is our top priority. We take every precaution to ensure a secure and comfortable experience, including the use of protective measures such as leather padding and safety glasses.

How permanent is permanent?​

While the industry & social media term is permanent jewelry we like to call them welded jewelry! Nothing in life is permanent! We do the best we can to provide you a secure and high quality piece, but jewelry is inherently delicate! I have seen customers who have had permanent jewelry pieces last for 3 years, & others who need to replace their piece every few months.

What is your pricing?

Our chains are categorized into two pricing structures: classic and luxe. This is due to different costs of the chains based on weight of precious materials and time to weld. Please see our product page (link below) which shows a variety of our available chains. Bracelets start at $55!

What metals make up the chain?​
-
Our gold filled meaning are 1:20 ratio gold with a high quality jewelers brass core that has been heat bonded. Silver chains are a S925 Sterling Silver. Our solid gold chains are 14k gold. This means you’re good to live your life in these chains! We expect these chains to last approximately 3+ years, although some will need to replace their jewelry sooner. These materials are hypoallergenic, resistant to tarnishing, and known for their durability, making them excellent choices for long-lasting jewelry.

How do I care for the chain?

With proper care, these chains should not turn or tarnish rapidly — try to keep all chemicals off the chain. If you use any kind of oil or lotion, spray tan, or apply chemicals like bug spray or sunscreen be sure to rinse the chain off with a little water after applying. The best care instruction is to wash the chain off every time you wash your hands! This will help protect the gold plating on the chain. Some lifestyle aspects such as a high acidity in the skin or products, sulfur (often found in water sources) or even just our own PH can cause the gold to wear away more rapidly. Adorn Darling is not responsible for any lifestyle or PH factors that lower the lifespan of your jewelry.

Will the chain break?​

While we do our best to provide you with a secure and high quality piece, the jewelry is designed to break under pressure. All of our chains will break with 15lbs of pressure or less. This is for your safety. If you find your bracelet is breaking frequently, permanent jewelry may not be suitable for your lifestyle. We will be happy to add a clasp so that you can still wear your custom fit high quality jewelry!

Can I go through TSA with the chain on?​

Absolutely! Your permanent jewelry can be worn through airport security without any issues.

Can I wear the chain during MRIs?​

Typically all jewelry must be removed for medical procedures, but it is best to ask your care team for direct guidance. We can remove (and put back on) your jewelry after your procedure or offer a clasp!

Removal & Repair FAQ
What if I need to remove it?​
-
No problem! If you need to remove it for any reason find us or you can use sharp kitchen scissors or simple wire cutters to do this at home. Find the link we welded and use your scissors to cut. Keep your chain in a safe place so we can reattach it when you’re ready!! Have an upcoming sports season? Many of our customers tuck their chains into sweat bands or their socks during games with no issue.

What if I change my mind?

I'm so sorry to hear you've decided permanent jewelry does not fit your lifestyle but all sales are final. We are happy to add a clasp for you so you can keep your high quality bracelet.

Do I get a refund if my jewelry breaks?​

All sales are final on permanent jewelry. We will happily repair the piece for you at no cost within the first 30 days of purchase. If you are not local you can ship it to us and we will add a clasp and send it back until you are able to make it back to us. Additionally, we can make recommendations for other nearby permanent jewelry artists who may be available to assist!

Break Warranty:

If your piece breaks in the first 14 days we will repair it for no cost. If you are local, contact us and we will coordinate repair at our next pop-up or alternate location. If you are not local you can ship it to us and we will add a clasp and send it back. We can also recommend other permanent jewelry artists near you!

Tarnish/Allergy Warranty:
-
Though rare, tarnishing could occur when your chain is in contact with chemicals, such as prolonged pool exposure. Additionally, also rare, but changes in body chemistry can have effects on the chain. We do not recommend permanent jewelry if you are regularly handling harsh chemicals or have ever had an allergic reaction to precious metals. All of our chains are nickle and lead free. If you are having tarnish or allergy issues, we will ask you to send us a picture. Within 14 days we will replace the piece with the same chain, or a chain of the same price at no charge, or offer a 50% refund when you return the chain to us (customer is responsible for shipping). Beyond 14 days the customer is responsible for replacement, and no refunds are offered.

Party Minimum​

We ask that a minimum of six guests and/or six permanent jewelry item purchases are required for your event.

Deposits​

To honor the value of everyone’s time, including yours, a $50 deposit is necessary to reserve your slot. This deposit is fully reimbursed or allocated towards your purchase once the minimum requirement of six permanent jewelry items is fulfilled.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

Deposits are non-refundable if your event is canceled or rescheduled less than 24 hours before or if the minimum item requirement is not met.
